At Camp Keff, our staff are the heart of everything we do. Our Directors, Coordinators, and Unit Heads bring deep experience and care to creating a day camp environment where children thrive. Each summer, we also invest in talented young adults who serve as camp counselors, supporting their growth as leaders through extensive training and mentorship. Together, our staff design joyful, meaningful experiences that ensure every camper feels safe, valued, and part of a strong community of friends.
Yasmin Gomez
Camp Director
Yasmin loves watching kids embrace the new experiences they encounter at camp, and she looks forward to developing future camp programs that foster their creativity, ingenuity, and growth. She can’t wait to see your child for another season of KEFF!
Just like Mod Podge—her favorite camp craft supply—Yasmin helps bring everyone together in her own special and shining way. Creating meaningful bonds and watching campers grow from season to season are both things she truly values about her work here at Camp Keff.
Yasmin began her Camp Keff journey as a Counselor in Training in 2014 and has grown with the camp ever since. She went on to serve as a camp counselor and later as Unit Head for Yomah (Grades 1–2), before stepping into broader leadership as Camp Manager in 2022, overseeing Signature, Adventure, Mix & Match camps, and Keff Teen Adventures. In 2023, Yasmin became Camp Director, bringing a deep understanding of camp culture, leadership, and community to her role. Each step along the way has shaped her approach to creating meaningful, joyful summer experiences for campers and staff alike.
If you could describe Camp Keff in three words, what would they be?
Engaging, impactful, and messy (the way camp should be)!
Nicole Francis
Senior Director of Early Childhood Education & Youth and Family
Without a doubt, Nicole brings the KEFF to each camp day. As a former Camp Keff camper and counselor—and now as the Senior Director of the PJCC’s youth and family programs—Nicole’s knowledge and experience enable her to foster an environment that’s everything kids (and parents) love about camp. She knows the social, emotional, and intellectual benefits of creativity, the encouragement of silly messiness, intellectual exploration, and affirmation of a children’s authentic self.
Nicole loves that, on any given day of camp, she’ll learn something new and different about the world—and herself—from our campers, and she’s inspired by their curiosity and readiness for adventure. She dedicates each day to making sure Camp Keff is a place where our youngest campers can connect with their friends, embrace their creativity, and stretch their willingness to try new things, just like she did as a youthful camper.
What’s a favorite camp memory of yours?
My favorite recent camp memory was when our staff performed a skit at mifcad in the morning. Campers told them they wanted the skit (about cooking eggs) to be done “hip hop-era” style. By the end of the skit, everyone was in tears laughing. I just felt lucky that our talented counselors stayed the rest of the summer and didn’t take their show on the road.
Rachel Warshauer
Youth Coordinator, Camp & Treehouse
Rachel’s Camp Keff story started long before she joined our team — she was once a camper herself back when PJCC was located in Belmont, where she made memories that would eventually bring her back to PJCC in a new role. Rachel has worked in a variety of professional industries, including medicine, accounting, and hospitality management, all of which have given her a wide array of skills she now brings to her work as Youth Coordinator for both Camp Keff and Treehouse, our afterschool program.
Rachel loves working with kids and believes that laughter, music, and the occasional spontaneous dance break are essential parts of every day. She champions creativity, individual expression, kindness, and — most importantly — having fun. Whether she’s leading an activity or cheering on a camper’s latest accomplishment, Rachel brings warmth, enthusiasm, and heart to everything she does.
What did you love most about camp as a kid?
I loved anything to do with music — singing, playing instruments, and making music together. As a kid, it was such a meaningful bonding experience because you didn’t have to worry about what to say if you felt shy; everyone was simply connected through the music, creating something together.
